Youtube optimization tipsOptimizing your YouTube videos

YouTube videos can be a great asset for your medical practice—if they’re done right.

This means your videos must be ones people actually want to watch! They should be engaging, professionally done and impactful!

If you are making YouTube videos with these attributes—you’ve got to optimize them! Otherwise you’ll end up with great videos that won’t get much traction.

At VCG, we are all about helping you maximize your time and money. That’s why we want to share these tips on YouTube optimization. (If you hire us as your partner, we make and optimize these videos for you!)

First, why are videos so important?

  • Visual learners prefer video and will gravitate to that option.
  • 78% of people watch at least one video a week. Promoting a video in an email subject heading increases open rates by 19% and click-through rates by 65%. *Source
  • Because they help your website and practice attract SEO traffic and ultimately, patients!

Why is YouTube SEO important?

Google owns YouTube. They display and prioritize video in relevant searches! This means your video can benefit from the same SEO glory that your well-optimized website can. The better the captions, keywords and optimization, the better your ranking will be.

YouTube Optimization Tips

At Virginia Creative Group, here are the steps we currently follow for uploads:

  1. Before Upload: Be sure filename is full of relevant keywords!
  2. Title Once Uploaded: Try to include location, practice name, and what you do, if this can be done along with some sort of title showing what the video is about.
  3. Video Description: Include location, practice name, doctors’ names, what service they offer, and synopsis of video.
  4. Tags: Include location, what you do, what video is about, different cities serves, names of doctors, etc.
  5. Closed Captions: Confirm that the CC are correct, and if they’re incorrect, type them!
  6. Music: If the music has been purchased, it doesn’t need to be attributed. If not, make sure to put where the music came from in the video description.

Overall, proper SEO for YouTube means your video is titled, coded, tagged, has excellent keywords and is linked correctly within your website.

Remember, just having a video doesn’t help. The right video, the right length, engaging content, excellent optimization…this is the goal! We can handle everything for you.
