Do you know how to nurture the super young patients you see?

Virginia Creative Group offers “Nurturing the “not quite ready”. It’s finally time for their first orthodontic consultation—a moment they’ve been waiting for! They’ve seen their older siblings or friends start to get braces and they can’t wait.

During their consult…

The orthodontist says they’re not ready.

Uh oh.

You’ve probably seen the disappointment on these children’s faces. It’s super hard for them to be “not ready” when they feel ready.

So, as an orthodontic practice, what can you do to nurture that relationship?

You can nurture the “not ready”—and make it a positive experience until they ARE ready.

These “not quite ready” kids are some of the best leads you have. And too many practices forget about them—just hoping they’ll stay engaged and come back when it’s time.

At Virginia Creative Group, we say ensure they come back by working to nurture them and keeping them engaged. Here’s how:

They can still be a member of the Kids’ Club but graduate them to the 7+ Club which has added bonuses. Give them a passport. Every time they come in for a readiness check, give them a stamp in their passport. If they get their passport filled, they get a bigger prize (like an iPod).

A few tips for the 7+ Club:

  • Keep their passports in the office, or let them take them home. But keep track of their progress. If they lose their passport, it’s no big deal. Just give ‘em a new one!
  • Don’t sweat the details. Know you’re elevating their experience because that’s what it’s all about.
  • Keep in touch with these kids/parents through email, snail mail and encourage them to join you on social media. Ensure they’re in your loop, just another reminder that you’ll be there when they’re ready.
  • Count the “not ready” towards the team incentive! These are some of the best leads you’ve got!
