In our last blog post, we talked about the benefits, goals and capabilities of a presentation folder. Today, let’s talk about the key components of a great presentation folder for your practice. Here are our tips:

The Outside

  • 10Cover: First and foremost, your folder needs to be clean and immediately identifiable with your practice. Your logo should be prominently displayed on the front cover. Convey your brand with color and design. Keep it simple, give them something to associate with you, and mostly, give them a reason to open the package. Remember: your presentation folder is a container, not a brochure.
  • Interior: We like to call this “The Reveal.” It is like opening a present! The right side is the first impression–the handshake and smile. We suggest that you have cohesive, practice-specific information on the right side – who you are, where you are, what you do, why they have been treated by you and nobody else.
  • Back: To leave a good impression and make it easy to get in touch, we recommend putting your contact info, social media info and website here. And of course, repeat your logo.

The Inside
The purpose of the presentation is to inform–not to overwhelm. Too much information can quickly become an overload, or worse, a confusing game of hide-and-seek…and ultimately, a huge disappointment. With attention spans growing shorter, our best advice is: keep it concise. Your primary job is to deliver what the patient wants to know, and needs to know—in a way that keeps them focused.

Look, Touch and Feel
Durable materials are extremely important; you want the folder to stand the test of time, and a flimsy presentation makes a bad impression. Because a presentation folder will be touched and handled by your patients, you want it to be substantial and sturdy. A high-quality stock gives off a polished, professional image. The two main components of the stock itself are its feel (or finish) and thickness. By using lifted inks, embossing, debossing, or even other paper coatings, you can create a unique folder that reinforces your brand image. Remember that a professional-looking presentation folder says that you’re willing to take that extra step towards showing your clients how seriously you view your practice, and in turn, how seriously you view their care.

The Function
The outside printing area folds to form the flaps of the pocket, so you can just print on one side (which is a way to keep costs down). When it comes to pockets, you can have one or two. We recommend two—it keeps you from overloading one side of the folder, and is not that much more in price. Another useful function? Slits on the pockets for inserting your business card!

The Cost
A presentation folder gives you many options to show that you care about how your marketing materials look. It’s important to show patients that you’re willing to make an investment—but getting the most out of your budget is also important! We are well-versed at helping our clients find creative ways to show their unique offerings while staying cost-friendly.
